Wood boiler inaugurated in Martigues

The EDF subsidiary Dalkia has announced the inauguration this Friday, February 5, 2016, the new wood boiler heating network of Martigues in Bouches-du-Rhône. It is society Cantoperdrix Energy Production, a subsidiary of Dalkia and dedicated entirely to the operation of the heating network, which had commissioned the new boiler in November 2015. It is thus 2.5 kilometers of additional network and two new sub -Stations that were built in addition to the boiler, while the existing substations have been modernized. 743 new homes which are connected to the heating network and the Hospital Rayettes, which has 540 beds.

This is the town of Martigues who had the choice of wood to transform its network copy network: boiler emissions are therefore reduced by Dalkia, 59%, and the heat rate would drop by 10%. 6700 tons of wood will be consumed annually by two boilers, which provide a combined capacity of 4.5 MW and supply 3,300 equivalent housing in heating and DHW. The work cost 4.345 million euros, financed by ADEME and Cantoperdrix Energy Production up to 1.25 million euros.

Interestingly, the city wanted to mobilize residents around the new boiler through the creation of a large mural on one of its walls. An artist will guide people who wish through the project to integrate the boiler room in the city and create social links around energy efficiency.

Jean-Michel Mazalérat, CEO of Dalkia, commented on the news: “The greening of heating networks is a key objective of the energy transition law and a major priority for Dalkia. Indeed, green heat has advantages both economic and environmental terms and therefore receives special attention from the authorities. For the construction of the wood boiler, the City of Martigues demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and its constant concern to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants. ”

The deputy mayor of Martigues, Gaby Charroux, also expressed his satisfaction: “The construction of the wood boiler is fully in public expenditure reduction strategy, while providing the best service to citizens and in constant concern to respect the environment. ”
